i think its broke?

i put a 3200 gov spring bumped the timing an 1/8th" a '89 w250 5 speed and tried to crank it, it fired and ran away on me. scary. we turned down the fuel screw and cranked it again it ran great and we ran it pretty hard down the road and pull over it was missing and smoking white drove it easy back to the shop and it was runnin fine but had no power

Watch for signs of head gasket failure.
Check for turbo damage and/or boost leaks

Burp the injectors of any trapped air and try it again.

You may be experiencing a common thing with turned-up VEs where with a WOT run, and side-stepping the throttle, charge-air gets backed-up into a few injectors and makes things run stupid till it clears.

The fix is to roll-off (not fast) the throttle.
