I need a little bit of help from my 1st gen brothers.

My sweet '92 was rear ended the other day and I have been fighting with the insurance company as to its value. They refuse to fix it and they are telling me it is only worth $5K. I paid 7K for it and have put thousands into it during the last year. This is an ongoing battle, and here is where you come in.

I need links to any nice first gens that you have seen recently that are for sale. "Comps" is what the insurance company calls them. The comps they are putting my truck next to are 300K mile single wheel trucks that are rustbuckets. My truck has 130K, no rust, mint interior.

Any help is appreciated.

It will have to be trucks in the area is the problem here for ya leper...atleast from what Ive heard. Canadian trucks definitely wont fly with the insurance as the exchange rate plays there.

I bought this truck for $6500. Drove 4 hours to chicago to pick it up only to find out that the IP was pouring fuel all over the ground. Other than that it was really nice. At least until he told me he was going to relist it because it didn't go for enough.

I paid $10,000 for mine two years ago and have done what I consider some worthy improvements. I would take a dime less for it today.

ok leper my poor ol 91 cummins was at the shop and some idiot from the shop bumped it outta gear and it rolled down a 30 ft embankment and crashed into the creek below ......they said that the truck will 170k le package was only worth 3k and then they took off 500 bucks for having a hole in my bed for my exhaust even though the truck rolled backwards down the hill.....and smashed the bed up pretty bad.......so all i can say is get as much as you can and go find another one to play with.....good luck

Worse case, get what you can, buy it back for cheap, and rebuild it from the payout.

That is the way it is going. They are offering me 5500.00 and I keep the truck. Problem is that once you start repairing and repainting, you might as well repaint the entire truck. The 5500.00 won't cover the repairs and an entire repaint. Kinda sad really. I paid 7K for the truck and have put 6K more into it and they are telling me its only worth 6K.
It seems like my best option is to take the money and then sell the truck as-is and start over. Either that, or just sell it and be done with it. I have poured time and money into this truck from the day I got it. I just wanted the best hauler I could make. Almost everything I have done to it was to help with mileage or durability or reliability and now I have some idiots at an insurance company that have no idea what my truck can do, telling me what it is worth.
They seem to know the cost of everything and the value of nothing.
