I.c. upgrade?

I had a cherry 93 cummins, and it got wrecked yesterday.I think the insurance company will total it out.I want to buy it back and fix it! Ive found a new clip for it ...I think.I can get a new rad. and condensor, but the I.C is proving to be tuff(getting it cheap anyway)

The question, seems like power stroke I.c.'s are out there. Is there a perticular year that will fit in the dodge chassis? is this evean doable? I can fabricate and build mounts and such.I cant afford them high$$ after market I.C.'s

Just trying to get a game plan together any help would be greatlly appreciated.

You want the 99-03 7.3L Intercooler. Make sure you get an aluminum one, some had plastic ends.

There's a few writeups in the FAQ/knowledge base thread at the very top of the page. This thread is a.k.a "The sticky" because it is always at the top. It is not a "plug N play" swap, but if you can fab mounts and brackets, you are probably qualified to do it yourself.

Yes a 7.3 powerstroke I/C is the prefered upgrade for our trucks and from what i understand it's pretty easy, i think all you need to do is work on the holes through the core support and pick up some bigger cooler tubes. I think

You'll get better cooling as well which allows for more fuel

I dont know, a custom 2nd get IC and bigger boost tubes was worth a 300*+ drop in EGT's. Is the core area of a PS IC any bigger than the 2nd gen IC?

I hope I see that when I get the PS IC in...

If the weathwer will ever make up it's mind...
Now that I've collected all the parts and pieces it's decided to rain every other day and I'd like 3 days to get this in....I know I'll have it in and out fitting and cutting and don't want to fight rain as well.

I believe I"ve read they are about the same.

Hard to tell what 1 thing was the best mod since I did several at once, but with the HE351, 3" Cooler Tubz, P/S IC, and about 30 psi of boost, I pulled an 8,000lb trailer from dead stop and accelerated to 55 up a STEEP hill by my house with EGT's limited to 1100*F. I was happy.

pwrtrip's setup is probably better than a run of the mill PS intercooler, but it raises the question:

how much time are you willing to invest?

They are within 10% of each other. Use what you can find cheap.

Amazingly enough the I.C. looks to be ok.I need to put some caps on it and pressure test it.

It looks like the truck is toast guys. The frame is bent real bad,I think the frame shop could get it straite. But the big issue I think is the cab seems to be bent pretty bad also...not to sure they can strain out the whole cab...arghh

I at least got a taste of a cummins dually...enough to make me want another, sucks!

I was afraid of that. It looked bad to me in the pic you posted.

Man, I just bought some vehicles from the National Park on their GSA auctions and 3 nice Dodge vans went CHEAP! like... less than $500! The Park loved old Dodges!!

side note, I did get a sweet 87 gasser with 44,000 miles that I'm having issues cutting up for parts only
