Hydroboost replacement problem
Hydroboost replacement problem
I installed the new hydroboost and bled system per the remans instructions. Jacked up truck to cycle steering the recommended times. flushed and fluid full. All seems good. Start truck brake pedal seems normal, drive truck straight to street with wheels straight, then turn wheels to exit driveway and truck stops and will not move until i turn wheels back to straight. Brakes are being applied without foot on pedal. Backed up and shut off truck, watched brake pedal as I turned wheel pedal it moved towards floor and returned as i returned to center on the steering wheel.
What is causing that?

are you Sure you didn’t mix up your hoses
I labeled the hoses before removal on upper end did not remove lower end. After sitting overnight Sat, started truck on Sun morn, turned wheel steering/brakes seemed normal. test drove truck drove fine. FF to Monday morn, truck was acting up again only much less brake applied when turning wheel. was able to make it to work. Plan on replacing pump tomorrow since that it the only other thing not replaced on hydro system. Forgot to mention it's on a 2000 truck. 232k miles on odometer.. as far as push rod I used the same rod from the MC. There was no adjustment on hydroboost rod to pedal.
Pump not supplying enough pressure I guess.

OK, why did you replace the original one to start with?
My incredible powers of deduction tell me that if the vehicle wasn't doing that before but after replacing a part it now does this, then it's most likely not another part that is bad but the part you replaced is bad.

We're happy to help you but you might get better answers on the 2nd gen forum. My vote goes with a faulty reman unit especially if it is A1 Cardone.
Kind of like the Meatloaf song "Cause 2 out of 3 ain't bad" except its "Cardone 2 out of 3 ARE bad".

When I converted to hydroboost, I looked at that Borgeson unit from Geno's, then went to Amazon to see if I could get a better price. While there I read the reviews on that unit, and saw a lot of complaints of leaking, and not giving anymore better performance than a regular reman pump. So, off I went to O'rileys to get a brand new reman pump from a 2001 model year Dodge diesel, so I could get the dual return ports.
So, is your pump all bled out of air, and the pump fluid is back up to level, and it still groans? Does your conversion have "T'eed" return lines, or does you pump have dual return ports? Do you have a filter plumbed in somewhere?
