I have one on mine. When I first put it on I used the 16cm housing I had, then I decided to try the 12cmW/G that came with it and thats what is on there now.

The size of housing really depends on your setup, amount of fuel, egt's, etc. and your personal prefference.

On a truck with stock injectors, a stock HX-35 or a WH1C (same basic turbo) is flat out awesome! Instant spoolup, plenty of boost to keep it cool, and great sound if you yank the silencer ring. It's the turbo Cummins should have put on there in the first place.

Once you go to POD's it's not enough turbo, though.

Is a HX35w/ a 16cm housing big enough for POD's? What do you need for POD's?

What kind of turbo lag and smoke would you have on the low end with that combo?

put an hx-35 on mine because it was free. went from 23# of boost to a solid 30# kept the 18 housing because i wanted top end. lag is no problem in normal driving. need to load it a little if one is going to drag race. half throttle there is no lag on my truck.

It depends on what you've done to the pump. If you have a setup like mine, even a hybrid isn't enough. If the pump is relatively stock, you can get away with an HX-35. If you go in the pump and grind the AFC lever and add the 3200 RPM spring, you will need more turbo.

Lag/smoke issues: If you are concerned about smoke, POD's are not the injectors for you.

Once you grind the AFC lever, the POD's will give you so much bottom end fuel that you will have no problem spooling an 18.5 cm housing.

I'm running the PDR hybrid HX35 with a 14cm wastegated housing. That and 190 injectors gives me a solid 35lbs boost. (see Sig).

There's little smoke launching with minor at full throttle (keeping the sustained full throttle EGT's @ 1250*F with the fuel screw for now), yet the injectors do haze a small amount at idle.

The 14 housing gives a killer launch with quick spool-up.

I've still got to toy with the VE pump advance (stupid bolts )

Have you towed with it yet? It's gonna get hot, but you'll be able to control it with your right foot. What I'm talking about is being able to apply the power to a towing situation and not having to drive with one eye on the pyro..

I don't think you'll be able to hold the skinny pedal to the floor on a mountain, but you'll be able to run pretty hard towing with the PDR 35. You've got a good bit of fuel to that thing, the only thing I have that you don't is a ground AFC lever. The trans temp will probably make you back off anyway.

I have a hx35/16 and it gets quite warm. I tow some nothing very heavy 5000 or so but it is hard to keep the pyro down in the yellow. It gets quuite warm without towing if you stay in it. I need something just don't know what.
I can hit 40 psi but really starts get hot at about 32+.
