hp gain from fuel screw?

hp gain from fuel screw?

Hello, I was just curious if any can tell me what kind of hp or torque turning the fuel screw in adds. I know every truck is a little different but I am just looking for a general idea on a factory truck. Has anyone dynoed there truck before and after? I was able to turn my fuel screw in about 1/4 to 1/2 of a turn with the collar on. And would like to try a full turn. Now I'm trying to decide if its worth it to bend a 10mm wrench and do all the work to remove the collar and turn in the screw any more. Thanks

You can get up around 250 RWHP (total) by cranking up the pump. TQ will be a little under 600 at that point. If you want power, messing with the main fuel screw is the cheapest and easiest way to get it.

The big question is, by turning it up the full 2 turns, how does that effect fuel economy?

If it were a significant downgrade in fuel economy, I might turn it back down for long trips over 1000 miles . . .

Not at all unless you use the extra power. If you are just going to get out on the highway and drive normally, fuel economy will not change.

Thats what I was hoping to hear about fuel economy. I'll be checking it for the first time since I bought the truck tonight.

I turned mine in about 2 turns and adjusted the smoke screw the day I got my truck. It turned it from a turd into quite a driveable truck. I would say its well worth it! Although I don't know what the difference will be from where you're at now . . .

I had to turn my idle way down after that and it was a PAIN!

fuel mileage

With mine pulling the GN before I turned the fuel screw it got 10 mpg.Since turning it about 3 turns it dropped to 8 mpg. The problem I have now is engine temp. as it will hit 220* on any long hill with weight. EGT wasn't a real problem as the motor would get hot first and I'd have to pull it into 2nd.gear to cool the motor down.
