How much boost can I run with arp headstuds and 60lb valve springs?
Does anyone have any idea how much boost I can run safely with arp’s and 60lb valve springs? I’ve read a ton of threads and I’ve read that people have had issues at 35 psi and other people are running 80 lbs no problem, I’m planning on running a borg Warner s362, using pusher intakes cold air intake and intercooler piping, along with all the other goodies to support it, just wondering if anyone knows how much is safe?

I beat the snot out of a '93 with stock bolts and stock gasket with 200K miles on it pushing 45+ PSI of boost and it just kept coming back for more.
I have since slowed down a little bit but my current '93 lost the stock gasket right at 200K pushing about 25 PSI of boost. If your block and head are perfectly flat with the correct finish, I believe that you could get away with 60 PSI with studs alone - for awhile. 50 PSI should be safe all day long. The thing is, like my current '93, if you don't have the block decked, it is not perfect. It is probably close enough to run for a long time, but like my '93, it might need pulled out of the truck and decked. Only one way to find out... |
Th only reason I’m gonna et the 60lb springs is being I want to be able to run 4K rpm and not have to worry about having issues, and if I get my way I’ll be pushing north of 60lbs of boost on 3 or 400% over injectors

to be quite honest because I can, and with a bigger turbo than the stock 21cm housing it’s probably gonna lag more than it does already and it’s not hitting full boost till about 2800 right now so a few more revs can’t hurt drivability, also I’m a really competitive person and I have a habit of putting the petal to the floor when one of my buddies flies by me on the highway, if I’m being quite honest I’ve done some tuning on the pump, the exhaust, the fuel pin, and a governor spring and it’s just not quite rowdy enough for my personal preferences
