How long do your tires last?
Just trying to get a rough idea on tire life for the first gens. I'm trying to put together a maintenance tracking aid to help me keep on top of preventative stuff.
Tell me your tire brand, size, and on a scale of 1-10 how much of a burro you drive like. 1 being the nicest driver, 10 being Satan. Thanks [redface] |
I have Michelin XPS rib tires in the factory size. 235/85 r16. I have never actually worn a set out, the truck had dry rotted ones on it when I bought it, so they got replaced early, and I did a burnout with the ones on it now and every body wanted me to do it again so I rotated them and did it again. Before the burnouts this set had about 30k on them, and they had at least half tread left. These tires do ride rough, but they last long and they are tough tires. I do mostly highway driving and drive like a 2 or 3 most of the time.

The Head my 92 has some off the wall brand on it that came on the truck when I bought it, they were new then. They are 235/85-R16 and have about 60% tread left. I too drive like a 2 to 4 most of the time, but i've loaded the gooseneck on it like a 8 or 9 and went down the road for 175 or so miles. They have somewhere around 60/65000 miles on them. Oh this is a dually so a lil different than your truck.

40-50.000 on stock size Cooper knockoffs driving like 5-6 on highway. 4 sets for the last 225,000 miles.

i have the cheap mt tire from pepboys. something dakotas i think. 265-75-16 i believe. have about a year on them, home to work, work to home, light weekend use. my throttle has two positions, off and on. im rough on my truck. right rear has little more than half, left rear has 3/4 or better.

mines just a toy i have mt's in the back and street's in the front. different sizes too. i have the power to light them both up, just no ls

well my last set of 255 85 16's lasted about 12000 miles before the cords were showing, they were brand new toyo mt's in february, in town im a 12 or 13, getting on the freway im a 9 to 10, maybe that has something to do with my poor diesel mileage

Id have to keep the motor in my truck long enough to know how long the tires will last :D

The last tires I had were 285/75 R16 Mickey Thompson Baja Radials. They lasted about 15k. Horrible tires, they were quiet but the truck is too heavy for their compound... I am now running STA Superlugs 9.00X16. They are a bit louder but I have about 6k on them with no wear...
Before the MT's I ran Yoko Geolander ATS. They were great, not as aggresive tread but did wear quite well, I think I had about 50k on them. I drive pretty conservatively, 80% road and 20% off-road (gravel, fields, etc..) |
I had 30K or so on a set of Mastercraft Courser LTs, and they had 50% tread remaining. I average around 50-60K per set, last 3 trucks have gotten Mastercrafts. Driving style is a 2-5.
Currently running General Grabber AWs (I think). Got them cheap and used for $50 each, but I dont expect them to last to next spring. |
I've got Pro Comp Mud Terrain's on mine in 315/75-16 with approx 40,000km's and they're plane wore out.80% street 20% gravel roads.
I'm looking for new ones myself. I want to stay with an agressive-ish tread but then the wear suffers.With my lift I think an all terrain tire will look goofey.
