The 727 is THE stoutest tranny dodge ever made. I ran mine completely stock with very good power levels and it never slipped on me. If I had kept going with the auto I wouldve adjusted the bands, dropped a good tc in it.

X3, 727 is super stout, one of the best light duty autos ever built (along w/C6 and TH400) a good trans shop should be able to get you all the good stuff to build it for a decent price, unlike TCI's version.

my old 78 was used for any and every towing job I needed it for,and the tranny in it was never touched, except for a fluid and filter change, every 20,000 miles. And it's still going strong,I gave the old truck to my daughter, and son in law,and they both like driving it.I just thought of the one thing I did to the tranny,I turned the pressure up,so when it shifted.it shifted, none of that slideing into gear.

If you get a beefed input shaft and billet drums you won't be able to break it.

Not trying to hi-jack the thread, just wondering if this is the same 727 International used in the 78-era Scout?

I've got my hands on one.
