How do I get the rotors off the hubs?
most rigs just drive the lug studs out and the rotor will seperate from the bearing hub. nice job on the info. i see you use the same shop floor i end up on alot. i also have a nice piece of cardboard when the weather is nice. better than picking a nice clean bearing out of the rocks. again nice work.
The lug bolts are pressed into the hub through the rotor. You can try and beat them out (big pain in the Edit)
, but a press does it faster and easier. Use one lug nut to protect the threads. Once all the lug bolts are pressed out, the hub and rotor separate easily. Replace the rotor with the new one and press the old bolts back into the hub through the rotor. Again, a hammer will work, sometimes, but a press is best.
The press works best on the removing because the bolts can get quite attached to their old home and may not be amenible to being beat out
