how do i change headlight switch
how do i change headlight switch
headlights are out. its definitely the switch. took off the dash and the plate behind it and also removed the nut/bolt thing that looks like it takes a special wrench with some needle nose vice grips but the **** and triangular shaft still wont come out. whathefuk?
there is a little button style thing on the main part of the switch behind the dash. You have to reach back there and push in the little button. It can be a pain. And then you just pull the **** out of the front.
Good thing I found this post. My headlights just went out last night so out came the old, a little burnt, switch and in with the new lifetime warranty switch. The connector had been a little hot at one point of time but still usable. So far everything seems fine but I rotated the potentiometer (****) to kick the inside cab light on and it blinked once then must have burned out. I'm going to check tomorrow to find out what really happened. Hope I don't have more problems than I thought I did.
Now is the time to install a pair of headlight relays and take about 99% of the load off the switch contacts; the switch will last forever and as an added bonus the headlights will be up to twice as bright if you also install Silver Stars.
