there is a little button style thing on the main part of the switch behind the dash. You have to reach back there and push in the little button. It can be a pain. And then you just pull the **** out of the front.

Good thing I found this post. My headlights just went out last night so out came the old, a little burnt, switch and in with the new lifetime warranty switch. The connector had been a little hot at one point of time but still usable. So far everything seems fine but I rotated the potentiometer (****) to kick the inside cab light on and it blinked once then must have burned out. I'm going to check tomorrow to find out what really happened. Hope I don't have more problems than I thought I did.

Now is the time to install a pair of headlight relays and take about 99% of the load off the switch contacts; the switch will last forever and as an added bonus the headlights will be up to twice as bright if you also install Silver Stars.

This is about the best lighting modification you can do to your truck.

While you have you head up your dashboard. Look at the wire bundle were it goes past the parking brake frame. On my 91 it rubbed through the insulation and shorted out the running lights.
