housing or pyrometer?

i just sold an old sailboat i had kicking around, which gave me some extra cash. im trying to debate on buying a pyrometer or a 16cm or 14cm housing. i really want the housing, my truck is a pig off the line. but im thinking i should get the pyrometer. what do you guys think. currently my truck is not turned up. i waiting untill i go thru the truck with some preventive maintenance befor i turn her up. im thinking changing the housing will help satisfy my urge for power for awhile

i would go with the 16cm housing, it will have a noticeable difference for power and should not change any temps.

i have read the 16cm is best for the auto trucks, you could get away with running the 14cm with mild turn up but it will chock off at high rpm when you run lots of fuel, the 16 with fueling mods do spool fast enough, remember it only spools once.

If your goal is the 300's, get a pyrometer first. With big injectors and an auto you can make that 21cm housing spool just as fast as a 16 or 14.

14 non-gated is too small, gated 14 is too expensive for what it does. Get the 16. EGT will only get cooler if you swap that 21 for a 16.

you could get the pyrometer then turn up your pump which will give you power gains. also i would spend the 15 bucks and get a 3200 rpm gov. spring.

well, i was reading some back threads on exhaust housing swaps. i found one that showed my how to identify my housing. i do-not have a 21 like i assumed i have a 18.5cm. my question is this, is it even worth the swap to a 16 because they are so close in size? should i save my money?

Save your money. Get the pyro and tweak on the pump to get it spooling quicker.

Pump tweaks will do that for you. The 18.5 housing works fine with an automatic, especially with the stock converter.
