Nope, hood stacks are illegal, just like our straight pipes. Generally though, if you aren't out causing trouble, the police won't bother you, they have much bigger things to worry about.

Actually, a couple days ago, while I was fueling up, an officer pulled in behind me (I don't shut her off while I fuel up) and complimented me. We talked for probably 10min. about Cummins', and he told me to blow a little smoke when I left.

I've heard that in Idaho the turbo counts as a muffling device so thats my excuse. I have had mine on for about 5 months or so now and haven't gotten any crap about it. I've seen a lot of cops and none have pulled me over. I don't think they'll care unless your bein stupid with it.

I really like mine, and its really not that loud surprisingly. With the windows down, its loud when you get on it, but with them up, its not any louder than the way i had my exhaust before. Also I have 3 different tips to choose from, and the taller stack is quieter in the cab just to let ya know.
