Hood latch

Well I just bought a 1985 d350 crew cab and I was all ready to start tuning up and going over the motor when the hood latch broke. I have nothing to grab, pull etc. Anybody have any suggestions?

Jason

That is why you wanted to install one of these last week.

Where did the cable break? is there any way that you can get to a portion of the cable to reach its core wire?

I am not familiar with what a 1985 looks like but you might be able to reach the latch if you remove the grille.

Can you post some pictures of the front of the grille and core support?

After reading your write up and seeing how the latch worked exactly, I was able to look through the grill and see a piece of wire for the latch. I pulled on it the correct way and "POP" went the hood! Now I will be installing your emergency latch idea as a permanent solution to my problem rather than try to get all the parts and cable ran back inside of the cab.

Thank you for your help!

BTW the 85 model latch looks identical to your latch in the write up. Know you know for future reference!
