Holset H1C Rebuild kits ? Ebay kits okay ? + Balance question...

See a couple kits on ebay to rebuild the H1C and wanted to know if anyone has used one of these kits before ?

Also the official holset manuals ive downloaded that show the process of rebuilding just have you mark locations before dissesembly, so during reassembly after rebuild you put everything back in place and you dont have to balance it ??

The Idea of not balancing it afterwards its scary to me, but if thats the way Holset says to do it, must be fine then

Remember nuts are left hand thread. They put kits out so you'l ruin shaft and have to buy new one. Make sure blades are not damaged/worn also. oil liberally.

I was going to buy the rebuild kit from ebay and was told on here that they are ok. I ended up buying a HX35 and when I ordered the compressor upgrade I also ordered the rebuild kit. As far as balancing I didn't worry about it and I had to machine the center chunk to accept the comp. wheel I used and haven't had any problems yet (knock on wood). The pin wheel nut is a left handed thread so be careful removing it take your time and follow the instructions.

i work at cummins turbo technologies and we never balance a rebuild we just mark the shaft and comp wheel. A little tip when you reasemble is to have it when you do the final torque have the comp wheel mark about 1/4 turn so when you make the final torque it goes to the right spot. Also be sure to polish the shaft back up before putting it back together. it torques to 140 inch lbs dont go over 150 inch lbs or you take a chance of breaking the shaft. it can be done i know. If you get a kit just make sure it is one of holsets aftermarket kits. Be sure to measure the two split seal ring on the end of the shaft if you need the clearences i can get them to you friday just let me know. Also i can provide pictures for a rebuild if you need them.

rebiulding a turbo is really easy, just mark the saft the nut and the compressore wheel, and when your putting it back together just put it back the same way, i dont have any issues doin it that way

i get my kits from these guys good pricing and quality

i ahve a new wheel to put on and when i have switched from and i/c housing to a non i/c housing i had no problems with balance. if you look at the comp wheel its balanced and the exhaust wheel is balanced by itself too, i belive looking at how they are machined.

how much is a rebuild kit from them?
