Question Highest EGT's with stock I/C injectors?

What are you guys with Stock I/C injectors and maxed out pumps running for EGT's ?

With a lightly ground fuel pin and washer removed, and power screw 1/2 turn from runaway, timing advanced 3/16". Stock H1C turbo w/18.5 housing. 3200 spring.

It will climb to 1500-1600 in 4th and especially 5th pretty easily, not sure what the boost is at because i've never paid attention to it, i'll find out though. It definely puts you back in the seat, thats for sure

I'm really thinking it has had a tiny upgrade injector put in it at one point (has 354,000 miles on engine) OR maybe bad tips? It also smokes alot when you leave in 2nd and go to 3rd and floor it before turbo comes in, like thick black cloud smoke.

Oh it has 3" Straight exhaust on it, Saw a 100* drop in EGT's with just cutting the big stock muffler off! ...Still has stock intake though with clean paper filter. Could this be an issue?

If i do pull 1 injector, how can i tell what brand/size it is if not stock?

Thanks for your insight.
Brandon

With maxed pump and my turbo I can only get about 800 post turbo without a trailer or something. But my EGT's climb fast till the turbo gets up and going and then they basically stop after i break the 30 psi mark.

back when i had my stock turbo, sticks and maxed pump it would get hot too. I could hit 1600 if i held it open for about 4 or 5 seconds. I say upgrade to a better turbo. And an intake and 4" exhaust would help. But I say get a better turbo so you have to go with a 4" exhaust And I had 230ish thousand miles on my stock injectors back then. And i did have the laggy 21cm housing...

I hit 1600 regularly in 4th and 5th with 2nd gen cooler, and super 40, pocket ported head, manifold... 7500 pound truck.

Pump mods are: no idle screws, m&h pin, afc lever ground, longer afc guide pin, full fuel as far as it could go and the revs come down when i shift, clipped 3200 spring. Also am running full fuel system with a carter 4601hp which delivers 7-8 psi at wot.

When I had the hx35 on non cooled, it was an egt monster with the pump maxxed. I didnt max the pump until I put the cooler in.

Check where the guide pin is running on the fuel pin. If its not going all the way to the bottom, you will have excessive smoke off the bottom with the pump maxxed. Lots of power and responsiveness to gain by killing some of the bottom end smoke...

Misread your post, thought you meant non i/c injectors, sorry...

Yea it's kinda doggish still because of the 18.5 housing and stock intake i guess....i have a 12cm for it but need to get a gasket/o-ring kit i think.

If you're cruising 40mph in 4th and floor it, it lays a black cloud for a good 2-3 seconds and then just comes in all at once and throws you in the seat but that makes me mad because i want instant!!!! my dad hates the way it spools when he drives it he always smokes people out because he doesn't downshift when he passes on the right like i do.

basicly, it spools slow.

The afc is pretty much stock except for ground pin and no washer so idk may need some tweaking to get rid of some smoke.....

I could hit 1600+ no problem before in 3rd or OD. Now that I added a bunch of timing I have to work pretty hard to get to 1500*. That is stock turbo(21cm), stock dp to 4" t-case back, stock intake with bhaf, smoke screw way out, stock starwheel setting, 3 turns on the fuel screw, 366 spring, and stock fuel pin set to the deepest.

Sounds exactly like my current setup, athough my injectors aren't stock. The guy who made them was a bit cagey about what size they actually are, and I've been meaning to find out exactly so I know what kind of beast I'm dealing with... and whether I'm going to change 'em or not!
I want 'instant' too!!! I'm thinking a smaller turbine housing is going to help a lot. As you say, black smoke for 2-3 seconds, then a clear haze. My smoke isn't real thick 'cause my AFC isn't bottomed, and my smoke screw is backed off a ways. I can't remember exactly, but I think I'm not showing any threads, or maybe like a half a one or so. I mean backed WAY out! Otherwise the darn thing smokes like a steamtrain at idle!
Also, my stock fuel pin is set at it's deepest, and my fuel screw is 1.5 turns in. Pretty conservative settings, really.

I just towed my Toyota crawler on my 18ft car hauler up a 4mile 5% grade hill over the weekend. My specs are in my sig and I'm 2.5 turns on the fuel screw. I maintained stayed between 40-45mph and my highest reading was 1100 deg.

i found in my auto that removing the afc lever was way more easier to control smoke and not effect spool up, but when you want power, hammering down is fun, i see 1250* max at wot with whats in the signature for the 93, the 91 with its signature setup sees both the 50 lb boost gauge and the 1600* pyrometer burries the gauge pegged at wot.

Max I've seen is about 1,000 degrees at 25-30 psi boost pulling an aluminum trailer w/ a mid-size New Holland tractor and that's giving the truck a good workout (highway driving). Unloaded it runs pretty cool at 700-800 degrees, but then again you don't get real hot until you decide to ditch the stock injectors. I know I need to do that soon, haha. But then again I probably should do mods to the trans/converter first.

With a stock pump and a trailer I can easily get to 1300+ but I live at 6000 feet. The 16cm housing helped with egt's some.

So where does you exhaust dump at? The stock 3" over the axle seems to be pretty restrictive even with no muffler.
