Hey stomp
I have a couple of questions for ya. You dont mention in your signature what trans. you are running. I suspect with your #'s that it is not stock. Also, I now have the htbg turbo on my 92 and am going to get the 62 or the sled puller next month when they get restocked. do you think that I will need to get the head o-ringed before puting this turbo on. I dont have the super flow pump head yet but am hoping that it wont be to far in the future. Where do you visit in oregon? I wouldnt mind hooking up with you to see first hand what you have done to that monster that you drive. thank's stomp.

How do you like the htbg?

I realy like the turbo, but with the 330 injectors in there I am over fueling. So I am going to go up two or three sizes. Ive put in the fuel pin, the gov. spring and the sticks and it does'nt clear out at all. can pull 1500 egt's pretty easy with 42 lbs of boost. am hoping the 62 or the sled puller will help.

I've been running the KillerB 64 and really like it. Spoolup isnt too slow and it really keeps egt's in check. With the stock turbo I could peg the pryo in 4th gear, but with this turbo I get up to 95-100mph before it's pegged. I just put mine up for sale in the classifieds yesterday because I'm going to twins and want something a little smaller for my top turbo.

Hey timb,
What exactly are your plans for your pickup? What are you trying to get HP wise? What size exhaust housing are you going to run? How much boost are you aiming for? As long as you have it wastegated so it doesn’t go over 50psi you should be ok. I said should be ok. I think that is what some recommend as being ok for a stock headgasket. I had mine go out when I was running my HX40/16 as a single, but I was running propane and h2o/meth. I had it wastegated to 40psi, but it hit 50 psi on the track once and that was all it took. I don’t know what the map looks like for the HTT 62 or the 64 or what they recommend for max boost. I would think that at 40/42psi you should be fine without o-ringing. Some people have good luck with the headgasket and some don’t. It defiantly doesn’t hurt to have it done though. You might consider a set of studs with the stock set up. That might increase the reliability a bit more. You could even put in a blow off valve so that you don’t happen to over boost the motor causing a headgasket failure. These are just some suggestions. My theory is to add more power and then find the weak links( trial and error). I don’t however suggest this on someone else’s pickup. Some like to prevent things from breaking. My transmission is a stock Getrag. Most will say that they can’t handle the power. Mine seams to work fine. I am running one of those Luc ceremetalic clutches. It does try to slip when I am speed shifting. It doesn’t slip very nice either it is very violent. So for the most part I just take it easy unless provoked that is.[laugh] Oh yeah most of the time when I go to Oregon I go to Klamath Falls. I will be going up your way sometime this year so if you shoot me a pm with your number I will give you a call when I go by. How far are you off of I-5? One more question where did you get 330 injectors? It is a marine injector isn't it? Disclaimer: I am no expert on these motors. For the most part I didn’t know squat until I got on this site and some of the other diesel sites. It also helps to have a good mechanic. I guess we all start somewhere right? Stomp |
Hey Stomp thank's for the info. As for my want's from this truck. The old girl is just a habit. I've had her for 9 years now. My nephew had an 02 that he bought new and got pushed off the slope. since then he has been trying real hard to push me off with him. So I finally decided to take the plonge and do a little timing and power screw adjustments. Well you know what happens then. My feet were greased and away I went. Right now I am shooting for 400 rwhp. Hopefully I can stop there. I was thinking about just puting a tc in the trans. for now and see how that works out.Right now I have a k&n in a swiss cheezed box but I dont think that it is moving enough air yet. As for the injectors, no they are not marine. Electronic Injection Services up in portland built these for me. Im not real sure on the specs. But John [the owner] said they were flowing about the same as a 370. with these injectors, stock 21cm housing and stock air filter I gained 40 rwhp at the vancouver dyno day's. Did two run's, One stock sticks, and one with these sticks. Right now he is puting together some new sticks for me to try when I get the bigger turbo, so we'll see how they work.Luckily I have a wife that understands the power thing. Beings she has a 81 toyota 4x4 with a 350 and turbo400 in it. And am buying her a 95 to 97 ctd this summer. Then we'll turn loose the money. I live in Winston. About 5 min. off i-5. I'd realy like to see the set-up that you have, I'll pm ya. Thank's again stomp.

Now that's just messed-up.. I thought I explained that I was getting my wife a ctd to bomb the heck out of. That's the only way I can stop. I hope. right now I'm going about mach 10 down the slope.[laugh] [laugh] [laugh]
