HELP! No power with new IP!

Okay before I installed this IP I installed the 3200RPM governer spring. Turned the star wheel 1/4 turn counter clockwise. turned the fuel pin to the deep side. Once I installed the IP I fired it up and turned in the full power screw all the way while revving it up every so often to see if it would run away and it didn't until the screw was bottomed out and I backed it off 1/4 turn and when I went to shut it off it wouldn't shut off so I had to block off the air supply to kill it (a sears catalog works great by the way). Then I backed it off another 1/4 turn and tried it again and this time it shut off, then reset my idle. I didn't have any marks on this IP to know where the factory timing was so I basically shoved it as close to the block as possible (probably 1/4" past center). When I took it for a test drive it seemed that I would have to give it an awful lot of throttle for it to move so low speed power sucks! Then I tried WOT and was lucky to get 15psi with a brief moment of 20. Before I was getting 25psi steady and I didn't have to floor it just to get moving. Any suggestions as to what I did wrong?

Thanks!

Sounds like you got the throttle shaft index off.

I turned it 2 times, set the pin on the deep side, turned the screw on top 2 turns in, and for the power screw I only went 2 1/2 turns, the max I was told for this was 3 turns cause 4 would make it run away

There is no set number of turns. Some guys turn the screw in till it won't turn anymore and don't get into runaway and some turn it 11/2 turns and get runaway.

I don't think it's the throttle shaft index because the throttle is functioning smooth and accurately I just don't have any boost or power.

Yeah, your indexing is off, you're not fueling enough for full power, boost is relative to drive pressure which comes from how much fuel you're burning and turning into exhaust pressure. If you're not burning enough fuel then you get low boost

If you took the top off and did a gov spring i can almost guarantee this is your problem. Very common

Fuel pin is not moving or the boost line is leaking for the AFC..

Brophyn70 I think your right. I should have turned the star wheel clockwise which may prevent the pin from functioning properly. I'll start with that. and maybe turn up the smoke screw a touch.

Stop making multiple adjustments at the same time!

Make one adjustment, try it out, fine tune it and then move on to the next. Multiple adjustments at the same time make it much harder to figure out where the problems stem from.

Okay I turned the star wheel 1/2 turn clockwise from stock. Made a BIG difference with low speed power. Now I don't have to rev it up to get the truck to move. Now I remember that it's the "Smoke Screw" that is turned counter clock wise for low speed power not the star wheel. I had the IP on the bench when I did the gov. spring and I documented the location of the throttle index and made absolute sure it went in the exact location when I reinstalled. Besides as I said before. it starts and idles fine and accelerates fine it just wasn't getting enough boost pressure at WOT.
