1st gen dana 70 width differences?
I have hunted and hunted but can't find a straight answer. What I want to know is, how wide is a first gen SRW WMS to WMS, how wide is a 1st gen C&C WMS to WMS, and how wide is a 1st gen DRW WMS to WMS? Thanks

Wouldn't The Dana Corp have a section on their website which details in CAD drawings of their axles.?

You would think so wouldn't you. I can find specs on almost everything but width. I've searched the subject every way I can think of but never get a definitive measurement. I'm sure it's out there, but it's hid.

Just thought of this (I'm a bit tied up, otherwise I'd look)... Google search for "Dana 70 Bible", it'll most likely be a pirate 4x4 link... If no such thing exists, search for dana60 Bible (I know this one exists), and I believe the 60 Bible touches on some d60 info.

I have two C&C DRW axles... WMS is about 2" more than the SRW. Just enough to keep the inside dually comfortably off the leaf spring.
I don't have a 1stgen DRW pickup axle... but I understand its ~72" wide, the same as the 2ndgen DRW pickup axle (which I do have one of.)

I've found the dana 70 bible on pirate 4x4 but the link that looks the most useful is no longer supported.

The next time I have my rear wheels off I'll try to remember to measure the WMS to WMS for you. I think I can put a couple of 2x4 on them and then use a tape measure. Would that be good enough?
I love my antique, no computer, no smog checks and easy to fix with ordinary tools.
