Help diagnose this annoying in cab noise..

This noise has plagued my truck since I got it almost 2 years ago. It sounds like it is coming from where the seat belt mounts to. I would really like to know what I have to do to fix it.

Check your cab mounts. I had an annoying chirping noise that eminated from somewhere in the cab area. It sounded like something rubbing against a styrofoam cooler. Found the noise when the rear cab mount cracked entirely around the pocket of the cab side. Guess the factory didn't get the right rear bolt tight.

My $$$ is on the seatbelt, probably the pendulum weight that locks the belt if you stop too hard/hit something. My 86 made a very similar noise, I fixed it by taking belt assy out and blowing it out with compressed air.

The old 93 I had sounded like that... It was the cowl cracks as they creaked back and fourth going down the road. I had a fender off and by chance pushed on the crack with a screw driver and it made the noise. What a relief once they were fixed!

How much stuff do you have behind and/or under the seat? Clean everything out and remove the plastic tray (if you have it) behind the seat. I found all kinds of interesting stuff under there and the carpet.

Oh, almost forgot. If you have the rear speakers, check them for looseness.

My '93 had the cowl cracks and it sounded just like that. Open the driver's door and look in the space between the inner and outer fender, straight forward of the hinges. If I remember correctly I reached in there with a screwdriver or something and bent some metal a bit. Cured it completely. Been about ten years now and I can't remember just where I bent it.
