Post hello, new 1st gen owner

I just bought the truck last wed. and am loving it I has about 135,000 on it. I have a couple of q.'s about some moding and parts.

1. I am going to get some gauges (egt, boost, tach.) I know i dont need the tach. but I have gotten used to having one. Where can I get a good pillar gauge pod, for the boost and egt.

2. I want to replace my clutch because it is felling and it is abit confusing as to which size to get (12 or 13) I gather that the 13 is for 94's and up but I dont know for shore. I was thinking on a south bend clutch.

3. How can I find out what the rear end gearing is. I know i could turn the driveshaft to find out but I would rather have some kind of documentation.

4. The upgrades I was thinking of were
1. Exhost probably 3" because that is what I can get locally, but should I get one of the premade sets and where can I get a larger down pipe.
2. Intake I was thinking of the bhaf with the stock pot and a home built tube.
3. Probably some Dynomite Diesel +40 injectors.
4. Maybe a Dynomite fuel pin but I am unsure about it.
5. 3200 spring

I am trying to increase the power of the truck without sacrificing reliability or to much fuel mileage.

Any suggestions or tips about how to increase the life of the truck and cheap power stuff that would be great.

My truck has a sticker under the hood (you have to look up at it when it is open. Mine shows 3.55 axle. I think 4.10 was the other option for the getrag 5-spd.
http://dodgeram.org/tech/clutch/specs.html says that the '94 truck had a 12.3" clutch originally.

Just about all of your questions can be answered in the "Sticky!"

As far as the pillar pod goes, just shop around the many diesel sites.
Genos Garage would be a good start.
They're all about the same price so I guess just pick who you'd rather send your money to.

Exhaust, if you can get 3" pipe for free, more power to ya but 4" would be better.
Stans Headers sells a full 4" turbo back kit that will bolt right up to the factor hangers and such(It should anyhow)

There are a few members on here who have it so Im sure they'll chime in with their pros and cons of the kit.

BHAF is a good start. There are many examples in the sticky on how to easily fab up your own.

And the fuel pin you can do yourself if you got a grinder. There are also several examples in the sticky on how you can grind and hack your pin to your hearts desire

Good luck.
Cant wait to see your results

Get the 13" clutch for sure, the southbend 12 is junk. Go ahead and get 4", you can get it for almost what the replacement 3 would cost (3" is stock). $4-500 shipped. You can grind your own pin and save serious $$$. Check the sticky for some GREAT advice.

With the power you are aiming for a replacement stock clutch (genuine Sachs only) would do just fine.

My in-town fuel economy did not drop any until I added big injectors. I lost 2 mpg with the POD's, the EDM's brought that back up about 1 mpg. 15 mpg in heavy traffic ain't too shabby. Highway mileage has remained the same from when the truck was stock (18.5 mpg @ 70).

I don't see any mods on your list that would compromise reliability.

I have the Stan's 4" system with the muffler. It's not too loud and the muffler is a straight through design. Went on easy, even with the 4x4. Should be a cake walk on the 2x4. A little more money than some others, but a quality piece and no fab work needed. If you need exhaust anyway and are going to bomb, go straight to the 4".

The 3200 spring is the single bestest for the cheapest thing you can do to the truck and not too hard with the directions in the sticky.
