If your load is heavy enough to need to be in forth, 60mph is as fast as you need to be going.

Yes!!! Exactly...keep it slower and keep it safe! 55 - 62 is a good range.

I can go about 65mph in 4th but I have a 3200 spring. If towing heavy and I really need 4th for it I keep it at 55mph flat and 60mph previous to a grade.

I haul in 4th simply because it's easier on the trans. With my 37's I can maintain 70.

I usually run in 5th at 55-62 with 3.54's. It pulls fine but you have to keep an eye on the transmission oil temp. On hot days it will bury a 300f gauge.

Lugging a getrag in any gear empty is bad really.

My 91 had 30ft Gooseneck(6k), 15(5x6) Rolls of hay(1 on the neck)(21K) and whatever the truck weighs and we putted down the road bout 10 miles just fine! Way overloaded I know but never got out 3rd b/c I never got faster than 35mph. My o2 Dually pulled the same load 70mph down the interstate but it was much more expensive to operate. Thats why its gone and the 91 will never leave!

When I was using the old mans truck to drag mine to the truck pulls we were grossing 22,000 and we'd run 65-75. The truck pulled much better at those speeds and would keep up just fine with the newer junk.

Actually had to rescue a buddy on his way back from a pull as the carrier bearing took a crap in his 3rd gen. I hooked on to his trailer and puller and we were off, he was very suprised at how well the old mans truck handled his setup.

On another note I hauled this heavy load back from New Ulm Minnesota. Also picked up a Getrag just north of Wausau WI
