he431ve

Okay a guy I met at the bar last night who was absolutely infatuated with my truck ( enough to buy me two coors lights ) said he had two of these sitting in his garage that he pulled from wrecked shop trucks .. as far as I remember they are from the 6.7L cummins correct? Neither one of us knew the answer so who knows if he even knows what he has. Anyway he wanted $350 each for them .. said they worked great when pulled. What would be involved in putting them on my truck? Would it be worth it? Any other info would be great .. I currently have h1c but am looking to switch up my exhaust anyway

Think I saw those on craigslist. The HE341 is off the 5.9 3rd gens I believe, the good ones are the HE351cw turbos. They have 60mm compressor housings and 9cm exhaust housings.

Yeah I just checked and they are indeed two of them on craigslist, although the guy posting said he is in seattle-issaquah. Is this a considerable upgrade from the h1c? What size exhaust outlet do they have?

Don't know the exhaust housing on the HE341 I think its 9cm as well, there is a guy on here that had one and didn't like it that much and went to the HE351 instead, hopefully he will chime in here.

The exhaust outlet on a he341 is 3.5" .. maybe even 3". but its not 4"

it has a 57mm comp., 9 cm housing.

i'd just keep looking for a he351

HE431ve is a really nice turbo. It is not like the he341 or he351cw.

He431ve is a variable vane turbo from big trucks. It is the same as the 6.7 turbo except a larger exhaust side.

In other words, a really nice turbo and I would jump all over those.

i agree except i think its a variable geometry turbo so you'd need some way to control that part of it

Yes its variable. A guy has used that exact turbo except the he431veTI model on his dodge. He used a wastegate actuator to control the vanes and removed the electronics. Do some research on competitiondiesel.com

The HE351cw I put on a kids truck here that had pod injectors cleaned them up almost clean. He still smokes bad for a real short time then it clears up almost totally clean. You definately know he has something when he hits the skinny pedal but just for a short distance, but the truck will pull hard to the governor with 42/44 psi boost. He loves the setup after we re-tuned the pump and cleared up his freighttrain smoke with the 351cw. Good luck which ever way you go.

oh i thought it was a typo and Stihl meant to say He341 .

yea c12h26 on this forum has a 6.7 vgt turbo on his 91 and he loves it, the vanes just stay full open all the time, when he moves the lever under the hood it sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

I once thought this too but it is not true. The 341 uses the same size outlet as the 351. No downpipe modification was required when I went to the 351.

Many may not agree with me but unless if you can find a he351 or he341 for really cheap I don't think it is with it. I would not spend more than 30 above the cost of GDS hybrid for one. I think the money would be better saved for bigger turbo that will a lot more air.

So its a 4" downpipe? I've still yet to hear any real negatives about this turbo. If there are some, I'd sure appreciate knowing

Your post confuses me. I guess what you were trying to say is you've never heard of the variable vane HE341? Me neither. What vehicles did they come in?
