Have been putting my brake issue to the wayside (literally)

It always bothered me and I have posted questions but I could never figure it out. The brakes will pull in my truck, sometimes worse than other times, but not always in the same direction. I installed new loaded calipers, rubber lines, greased the snot out of the slides, put a vise grip over the rear line while test driving to eliminate the rear as the culprit. Three different sets of tires/rims show the same results. Everything is tight up front. I also installed new bushings in the front leaves, and shackles. That was a lot of work and it didn't do anything, so I haven't touched it since. Ideas, theories, stories, show and tell, anything to help me out. Thanks!

check the caliper brackets themselves. Sometimes they are grooved and it will cause the caliper to not slide properly. Thats a possibility especially because you replaced the lines... Ive had hoses plug or breakdown that have caused one caliper to brake more than the other... Good luck!

Thanks man. I have checked them, and they are good. I am stumped. This is why it hasn't been fixed. I am usually anal about things like this.

Hows the king pins? That coupled with my worn shackel bushings caused my pulling in either direction.
Good luck

Mine does the same thing and I'm also stumped.

Hows your TREs & steering?
Jim

mine did the same thing( still does a little) And i replaced TREs, drag link, a new steering shaft and the king pins and it helped out a lot. Still does it a little because my steering gear box has a lot of slop in it

schamran 06-09-2010 04:23 PM

I knew I was leaving things out. TREs are new, King BUSHING are new. Maybe my steering box has too much slop?

B-North 06-09-2010 05:41 PM

Yeah I'm at the point of replacing my steering box. It leaks and is sloppy, just putting it off until I can do crossover steering.
