Has anyone here ever outrun a LP piston lift pump?

What I mean is, have you pulled your fuel pressure down low when running a low pressure lift pump?

I was curious to know if it's happened to anybody. What were the details of your setup when this happened?

My 93 will pull down to 2 or 3 pounds through stock lines and filter. Thats at 300 horses with my 16's.

I saw a '93 suck a LP pump down to zero PSI...WITH a big fuel line setup.

He had a maxed out VE and 6x16's.

Stock filter and lines, 6X16's, sucks the piston pump down to ZERO.

I'm running 80hp injectors, a modified Bully Dog fuel pin and with a new filter and IP turned to the stop I can drop it to five pounds.

So us regular folks, who may wear tennis shoes or an occasional python boot wouldn't have any concern?

I think I may be pulling my pressure down... seems to run out of juice up on top. However, I still need to advance the timing, and install a fuel pressure gauge.

Correct.

Digging through past threads, I found that my experience was . . . .

With the regular piston lift-pump, 3/8"ID plumbing and a big fuel filter, running PDR "190" injectors with the typically tweaked injection pump, I'm seeing . ..

- Approximately 12psig while free-revving the engine to 2500rpm.
- Approximately 9psig at idle.
- Approximately 7psig under WOT.

Well shoot, PDR 190's are pretty small aren't they? I running injectors that are 241% larger than stock in respect to orifice size.

I agree, you'd see lower pressures. It's just for comparison.

That is what mine is doing with the diaphragm pump now. With all you got going on you probably are. Time to dig back through the threads and look at the high volume converted to low pressure pump or go electric.

oh yeah, I had forgotten about the high volume low pressure lift pump. I'll have to contact Jbradley500. I think he put one of those in.

With a 2nd gen piston lift-pump and regulator, 3/8"ID plumbing, etc, DDP4s could pull it down to 8psig @ WOT.

What are you running now? I was thinking about an Airdog 100 or 150 for a 24 valve application. I think I remember reading they are regulated to the same pressure as what out injection pump needs.
