H1C out of comission

Hey guys, I pulled my turbo off today to hook up the w/g actuator. Upon inspecting the shaft play and what not, I saw that the comp wheel had been touching the housing slightly. I caught everything in time. The wheel has hardly been touched at all... more like a kiss. My question to you guys is what would you recommend I do. My thoughts are to buy an HX35 and give my dad the 12cm housing that comes with it for his 93 LE (beautiful pickup) and then buy the big comp upgrade from HTT and put that and my 14cm on the HX35 and then onto my pickup. Or should I go a different route and get something completely different. I'd sure like a new schwitzer but they're god awful expensive. After I get a fuel pin and the big comp upgrade I'll be done upgrading until I get out of school in a couple years. I think with that and my current fuel setup, the hx35 with stage 4 and 14cm will keep everything cool. Thoughts? Opinions? Thanks in advance
Dan

Sounds like your upgrade plan would work well, go for it.

By the time you purchase an HX35 and the compressor upgrade, you're going to have spent $600 or so. You could spend the money on a Dodgezilla minus the turbine housing and get about the same thing, but with the biggest HX40 wheel available (I think it's 62mm).

I don't usually recommend getting a hybrid, but in your case, since you have a 14cm housing and don't want to spend the money to go to a Schwitzer, I think the Dodgezilla would work well.

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. Who sells schwitzers anyway? I looked around last night and couldn't find a dealer of any kind. Thanks

Both those places sell modified S300s as HTB2s, HTT 71 series, II phat shaft, and II super phat shaft series turbos.

That Dodgevilla is the same thing PDR and HTT is/has been doing for years. Sell you an upgraded wheel and compressor housing. Or you can have them build you one, just like this Dodgevilla deal.

I say by ALL means, save your money on the stupid fuel pin!! Grind your own or leave it alone! Then put that money towards one of them high dollar $1000 turbo's, htb2 etc.

Go to www.htturbo.com click on 'dealers' find one nearby, although not necessary, and contact the guy, get a price. Usually it is much cheaper than advertised on HTT's site.

You can rebuild the H1C yourself, too. HTT can get you the parts, you can download the instructions from Holset's website as a pdf.

There's a dealer 2 miles from my house. Looks like maybe a good shop, too. Gotta go check them out this weekend.

If I were you, I'd talk to one of HTT's dealers and see what a 62mm turbo from them would cost. You can probably sell the 14cm housing you have for around $250-$300 if you were to go with a Schwitzer.

Oh, and ignore my advice about the Dodgezilla. I thought it over some more, and it doesn't really make sense to get a hybrid in your situation. I'd either rebuild the stocker and save the money for a Schwitzer once you're out of school or go with the better turbo now. When you do decide to upgrade, you'll have the 14cm to sell to help pay for the new turbo.
