Ground my fuel pin today...

Along with a bunch of other crap. Checked my fuel delivery for leaks, checked for full throttle from the pedal. Checked my valve lash. Oh, and fixed the oil leak that a brand new gasket and brand new lift pump on clean surfaces was leaking through?

Anyways, I did the progressive style grind similar to the bullydog style pin. I left the bottom part of the ramp the same, just took a bunch out of the top. She fuels exactly the same (go figure) to about 25 psi, then she takes off compared to the way it was before. More smoke on top. Time for more air I guess. I never thought the fuel pin was worth grinding until I did it today and figured out first hand what it was all about. Total kick in the pants compared to the stock ramp. I guess that I should add that the nylon washer is gone too, so the pin gets to the deep end of the ramp.

Still have a blue haze at idle though. No leaks as far as I could tell in the fuel lines. Also still have a "shuddering" at part throttle under load. Like 4th or 5th. Weird. I think Im gonna order up some 190s when i get a little extra cash. They want WAAY too much to rebuild injectors around here. Can get 190s for about 1/2 the cost of the rebuild.

Try backing the timing off 1/8" or so. They will surge at part throttle with too much timing.

bigstinky, is your truck intercooled or non? If it's non your stock injectors are capable of flowing more fuel than the 190's.

I was told by a cummins shop that non i/c injectors are about the same as 300 hp marine injectors.

Well, just took my truck for a good run. Temps get HOT quick now. 1400 by the end of 4th. Ack. Oh well. It didnt do the surgy thing, but it does it off and on, which makes me believe its a delivery issue. But it may be a combo of delivery and timing (unequal pop pressures?) together. We'll see in the next couple days.

As far as injector size, Im already pouring more fuel in there than I can deal with without an intercooler. Thats why I was thinkin of goin with 190s, cause pods are bigger, and 190s are dirt cheap, and people that have them seem to be happy with them towing, plus with the pump maxed they can make some pretty decent power. The next step up is a couple hundred $ more, and I dont know if its worth it running injectors that big when I dont really plan on adding much more air than a 35/40 hybrid. I really need an intercooler, but I think that will be next year. Im kind of torn on what to do. It makes some pretty good power now, but I dont want to burn the thing up, ya know? Thats why I had the timing so far advanced before. Used to have a hard time hitting 1350 at the end of 5th empty with the stock fuel pin.

At the case. I ran into the same problem when I jumped a tooth. The truck would only tolerate about 1/8" more timing than I had before, any more than that and it would surge like you describe. Sounded spooky at idle, too.

I think 190's will give you less power then your stock non i/c injectors. Do you still think your injectors are bad? A good intercooler will give you longer power usage but I still have egt issues with my stock sticks.

Yeah, missed that. Don't waste your money on 190's if you have a non-intercooled truck. If you are not planning on upgrading past a hybrid the stock injectors will give you all the fuel you need.

So what should I do? Like I said before, the pump shop wants 800+ to rebuild them. I have a lot of options for that price, ya know?

Are these a good clean injector? Assuming I turn the pump down, will they give me more power with less heat?
