Yup
Thats about what I got.

Fun ain't it

you might want to back off on the star wheel and or the smoke screw a little. That is what Wanna told me to do and it seems like it runs better. Less unspent fuel.

Dean, one thing you have to understand is that each of these VE pumps seems to react to mods differently. so one turn on the fuel screw on my pump my only be a 1/2 turn on yours. so you can guess if you are tuned the same but a lot depends on the truck itself. on your truck i would run the startwheel closer to the middle or top at this point. all you are doing is creating low end smoke with it bottomed out. the idea setup would have the pin pushed to the deepest setting at your peak boost and no sooner. also, run the pin for a while so that you can see where the pin is riding. you may need to shave the washer, or adjust the smoke screw to get everything the way you want it! but i agree... ground pin is a FUN mod!

Before I put the ground pin in I had my star wheel in about a turn and a half but after the pin I backed it out probably 3 to 4 turns. As for the fuel screw I have it as far as it will go and my idle is probably at around 1000-1200 rpm's, I know thats kind of high but it doesn't surge while in gear at a stop. What I did was adjusted the star wheel until I got the smoke that I like and I also backed out the smoke screw until it was flush with the inside of the housing.

Hope this answers your questions. Ryan

Free89-with your fuel pin ground does the truck seem like it still needs more fuel? I don't have fuel pin or shaved washer but I maxed my fuel screw and I have some smoke @ low rpm,but not much other than that...
I'm wondering if I get a make a fuel pin will I have to knock off lock washer from fuel screw?

At this point I think that I have plenty of fuel and my truck doesn't smoke unless I'm at WOT. I have my fuel screw in as far as possible and I did take the lock collar off of it. I would take the lock collar off of the fuel screw first before you grind your pin. Once you have your screw maxed and you feel that you need more then grind the pin.

Hope this helps some Ryan

Ryan, thanks for your help,i'm going to do that this week.I had my star wheel maxed to the bottom, but I found when cruising that the boost needle would jump all over the place,so with some advice from Lil Dog I backed off the wheel and put the smoke screw flush...how many threads should be showing when star wheel was stock location?
my idle is @ 900 now,I'm afraid of where it will be when I knock off the collar?

Low, No problem, I am not sure on the amount of threads are suppose to show. Maybe someone with a little more experience will chime in.

Go as far on the fuel screw as your comfortable with idle wise.

I've never touched mine. Never felt the need for MORE unwanted smoke. I'll check it tomorrow when its daylight and count the threads for you.

use the star wheel to correct too much fuel at low boost... if you are getting a ton of black when taking off normally before the turbo hits like 10psi, back the star wheel off. this will put more tension on the spring and it will take more boost to overcome it. If you want a ton of low end smoke, by all mean, crank it down. setting the pump up correctly will help to eliminate unwanted smoke. with big enough injectors and a small enough turbo, believe me, you'll still be able to black out an intersection if you really want. The AFC is easy to get into. set it, then road test, keep changing it until you are happy with it.

thanks guys,I'm trying to get a good mix of low end power + not to limit what the pump can do for me.
I forgot to write these items down before I started to have a baseline...
