i notice that i have a green tint to oil,i been told if i had that, that something is wrong, but i forgot what it was, could it be multiple problem or just one thanks
92 dodge diesel dually i got 25 hp injectors and pump stock.it never had green tent to oil.i rebuilt my pump, and got my radiator clean and pressured tested. about 2 months ago, checked oil today and had green tent to it.
Auto transmission? If so, it's very possible that the transmission cooler has sprung a leak internally. The cooler is located on the passenger side of the motor, hugging the block just below the exhaust manifold.
Usually when coolant/ water enters into oil it turns white, not green. I do not know if that's the case when you run straight antifreeze however. I have seen water in the oil of some larger diesels ( 425 Cat) that had a cracked head / block, it turned a milky white. It had a 50 50 mix in it. I hope you find out the issue and I hope I may have helped in a small way.
Maybe coolant in trans fluid or vice versa.
I've read a post like this before.I'm gona take a stab in the dark and say you use Rotella oil. It seems to have a greenish tint sometimes.

I believe there are only two contaminants that could get in your oil, coolant or diesel fuel. Anything else would cause major engine problems which you would most probably notice. Take a clear plastic soda bottle raised and dried put some new oil in it and look at its color next add some diesel fuel shake it up and check the color, then add a little coolant shake it up again and check. Want to carry it one step further yet another soda bottle and oil and coolant only. And as said above send off a sample to be analyzed. Just my two cents, Mike.
It's diesel fuel, did you use a different oil last change? When I run rotella mine will tint green, but when run delvac or Wally world, it doesn't tint. Also, have you run it easy or allowed for extended idling?
Coolant/water in oil will look like frothy chocolate milk because they do not mix. However, diesel being petroleum based they do mix not to mention today's diesel is greenish yellow
