gov spring install
put it in tonight along with a bunch of other stuff (put the head back on and put a fuel pin in). trucks been sitting outside in the bitter cold for the last month or so. brought it in last night so that it would have a good 24 hrs of 55*. was pretty hard to get started, and once it happened it ran AWFUL. wouldn't idle AT ALL. until i cranked the idle screw about 3/16 to a 1/4 inch! i had to shorten the throttle linkage all the way, and it was still too short. went for a short drive, and the old beast just didn't feel as snappy as she used to (although it has been a month). could this be caused by me not getting the the spring loaded thingy back in the correct place? that is all that i could come up with on the drive home. left the truck down at the shop and plugged 'er in. will try again tomorrow with some light.
thanks

It sounds to me like your "spring loaded thingy" is your throttle lever. It sounds like it isnt clocked right.I believe you need to lift it up off the splines and clock it clockwise one tooth on the splines. That would explain your idle adjustment, your linkage adjustment and your low power.
Good luck.
Good luck.
