Next time you call just give the part number and don't volunteer any info on why you want it. If he wants to know what it's for tell him it's none of his business if he wants to make the sale...

Sounds strage to me that bosch coming down on them as the shop here Turbo-Diesel Injection is a bosch shop and when I went in and gave him the number he asked what what I needed it for and told him I was building a toy to play with for drags and maybe some county fair pulls and looking to get at least 400+hp and over 1000ftlb of torque. Told him I was thinking of getting a 14mm head for the pump but wasn't sure if I wanted to put it in myself and he told me to just bring it by and he could do it in a few hrs. I think they are full of bull that bosch doesn't want to sell any parts. The more you hotrod the more things break and thats how they make money. Just my 2cents.
But am glad the shop by me doesn't mind helping me out

Yeah Im with ya, made no sense to me. What does make sense to me is that I dont deal with folks that dont have customer service number one on the list. You haggle me, Im hanging up and wont call again.

Yeah Ive got some 4bt buddies down there, but I can tell you what they told me a few months back. I was pickin their brains on VE stuff and as I was talking I could see both mechanics eyes glaze over. When I got done asking my questions the boss said "we treat the pump as a unit, if it breaks down or isnt working properly we send it off, its easier on us" and that was the end of it. Good guys though, TONS of Cummins parts.
