Isn't STOMP on his third transmission or something? Anyway, I agree, if you know how to drive, and treat it properly, the 'rag will last. Mine took daily abuse for several years and is still kickin', just needs new synchros. It's in my brother's truck now. However, the NV4500 has a much larger aftermarket, more available and CHEAPER parts when they break, and it's easier to rebuild yourself if you have to.
I got a re-manned NV4500, the Advance Adapters 4x4 kit, a BD short throw, and a Valair 13" Ceramic clutch for a shade under $2k. You could buy just the trans, adapter kit, and a stock clutch for a hair over $1k, or you could probably find all the stuff used and do it for less.
