Getrag Parts

Im getting ready to do a rebuild on my Getrag. Are there are brand or retailers of parts I should avoid? Long time ago I had Blumenthals do a rebuild, 5th went out in 500 miles, they replaced the trans 5 times total each time 5th gear failing under 1000 miles. They finally went to Dodge and bought OEM Getrag parts and all was fine. Now that was 20-25 years ago. Ive seen some noticeable difference in parts prices currently and was trying to see why? Are most of the mainshafts from the same manufacturer, bearing preference? Timken vs Koyo etc? Basically, im doing a new input shaft, all bearings including needle bearing w syncros and maybe a new 5th.

thanks in advance,

As far as the price of parts go, especially steel parts, that would probably be the tariffs. Both Ebay and Amazon have the parts. I know that setting the preload on these is tricky and i would believe that a shop might do it wrong 5 different times. There are some great writeups on this forum about this, make sure and do your homework...Mark
