Getrag Breather/Tube?

Any thoughts? I think the lack of a breather/overfilling the trans is the reason that the rear seal slid down the shaft started leaking.

Thanks!

Very worth while. I've done it two different ways on two trucks. One where I routed the breather tube up to the engine compartment with a breather cap, just like what's on the t-case and diffs, it doesn't leak. The other where I just had a section of 1/4" tubing hanging down from the getrag similar to a draft tube, such as the crankcase draft tube. It, just like many crankcase draft tubes, is a little greasy and messy. But it doesn't lose any substantial fluid. I suppose if one were to do it that way, a loop or the like would help keep it from dripping.

Where do you tap into the trans/top cover?

The getrag top cover has a breather on it, at least mine does. It was puking a little oil since I put too much oil so I drained it, put a 3/8" ID hose with a breather cap and done deal.

I have one cover that doesn't have a breather, and I have one that does. The one without the breather is in better shape, and the forks are in better shape. I would like to put a BIGGER breather on, in hopes that it works better.

I actually just put a small cut in the boot, figured that would be ok to do . I have one shifter top with a breather and one without.
