Getrag

shifting through my getrag is very deliberate and "square?". i'm wonderin if theyre all like that? Also, i let one of my workers drive mine and he got rough with the shifter and popped both the pins out now my gear shift does a 360 degree turn.....is this a common problem?

The shifter has 2 pieces with a rubber piece bonding them under the boot. Over time the bond breaks and or the upper shifter cracks making the shifter loose and able to fall off or rotate. You can re glue or squezze the cracked part together. Otherwise that sounds about right for a getrag.

Haven't had the shifter do a 360 but they are a slow shifting trans. There are some of the guys here that drag race with them so they must move thru the gears at a good clip. IMO with all the low end torque shifting slow does not effect the drivability of these trucks as long as you do not lug them way down. The Getrag does not seem to like that in most cases.
