Gear Vendors Overdrive Question

I am looking at buying a 92' 4x4 3/4 ton or (w250) 5-speed. Does Gear Vendors make an overdrive system for this model? Seems like i have gotten on their website before and they had the overdrive system for the two wheel drive manual and automatics and the four wheel drive 2nd gens. but not the first gen. 4x4 five speed. Any help would be appreciated.

YEah, my 1990 4x4 5speed with 4:10 gears had the gear vendors installed.

It bolts on the back on the NP205.

same deal for me, youll pickup 2-3 mpg's, still have the lower preferred towing ratios, with the higher final drive, with my 5 speed, you have to get moving 35 mph before the oil pump will engage the od, giving you 7 gear ratio options

Once people have them, they tend not to let them go...

I bought a donor truck W250 5sp that came with a gear vendor installed... might try looking for a whole new truck. The other thing is you can get a unit off of any vehicle, but the adapter specific to our application /np205 will be around 800 dollars new from GV..

There are 2 very reputable people on ebay that sell used recon GV's and have adaptors. I have purchased from both. Be sure you get a P type not a J type. J type is older and lighter duty. There is also the US Gear overdrive, rarer, but much more robust, goes between trans and transfer case.
I'll try to recall the info on teh GV vendors I have used if interested.......

It is a wonderful unit, and I would do it all over again. IMO it would be more beneficial with 4:10's in the rear then 3:54's, cause with the OD engaged with 4:10's it's like have 3:54's. I know some people think they are a waste of money, but I get great mileage with the low end grunt. Simply put, the best of both worlds.

The nice thing about the U.S. Gear is that it mounts inbetween the trans and transfer case. You can use it in 4WD. My Dad had one in a 86 ford 350
4X4 SRW. When he quit driving the truck in 08 ( his eyes would'nt let him drive anymore ) He had 625,000 miles on the truck, third engine & trans but only one rebuild on the overdrive.

I was on Gear Vendors web site and the only one they listed was for the 727 auto.

I thought the 92's had the A518? If so you already have o/d. Is it not working, or are you looking for a 5th gear?
