Fuel Shut Off

I have a friends truck with a VE pump that just died going down the road.
He said it did restart once after cranking for a few and then died again.
It has good fuel pressure to the pump but none at the injs.
I figured it was the fuel shutoff solinoid but haven't taken it out yet.
I thought I read somewhere here that someone bought one for around $40 but I'm not sure.
Local Cummins shop here priced it for $135.
Just thought some of you 1st. Gen. dudes might shed some light.
I usually play with the 2nd Gens.

Thanks !

They were getting them throuh Volkswagon, you could try searching for the part number, I rember seeing it posted at one time or another. He could prabably just walk in with it for them to match up.

Did you find the # for the shut off valve yet? It was some time ago for the posting, I recall, cause I was having problems myself.

Thanks !

I saw that but wasn't sure if it was the right one for this truck.

I assume that this is a VW dealer ?

Valley Wagon is an independent VW shop in Carson City. You can get the valve at any VW place- it's for the early Diesel Rabbit- say 78 or so. Jim

I called and ordered one from them .
But the price has gone up to $51.50.
Or at least that is what it was for me.
That is still alot better than the $135 that Cummins wanted.

Thanks for the info.
