Fuel Screw only 2 turns?

In the stickies it say about only turning the fuel screw in 1 or 2 turns. Can it be turned in further or do they bottom out( if not running away by then)? I turned mine in on Saturday and it bottomed out at about 2 turns with no signs of running away. Could it just be the jam nut getting hung up on the marred threads where the collar was or do i have to weld more to the end of my screw?

Did you get the collar off the fuel screw? If it was allready off before you started turning it,chances are someone allready turned it in. I can bottom mine out and it doesn't runaway. In the middle of your fuel screw there is a rubber washer of sorts...that i think is what keeps it from running in too far.

Some screws are shorter than others. My 91.5 "bottomed" out after 1 1/2 turns with very little change in performance.

pull that lock collar off and clean up the threads. you will be able to get more turns out of it then. but yes even without the collar on (like mine) they will bottom out without any signs of run away. Some people weld a little onto the end but you can also buy another fuel screw.some of the new ones are longer. i don't know why but that's what i have been told.

just be carefull when your checking for runaway. I got to find out what it was and was extremely surprised how much vacume the engine pulls on the turbo. I used a metal plate to shut the turbo off when it started running away and it took about 15 seconds to be able to pull it off the turbo. It was STUCK on there. So be sure you use something hard that will not give, cardboard or thin wood will not cut it.

I think that is better in the long run. The further the fuel screw, the higher the case pressure, which ultimately shortens the life of the pump. I would think, if you aren't close to runaway, then the case pressure shouldn't be as high, meaning longer life for the pump.

On the back. Look in the performance section of the sticky for more info and pics...
