fuel plate adjustment
fuel plate adjustment
I need instructions on how to adjust the fuel plate forward for an increase in power. How much of a power increase can I expect to gain from doing this? Can anyone direct me toward detailed instructions for this procedure?
Re:fuel plate adjustment
Hi Adam,
Since you're in the 1st Gen Forum I'll assume you have an '89-'93 model year truck...
If that is the case, you don't have a fuel plate like the newer trucks...
You would be adjusting the "full fuel screw" to up you fueling/hp/smoke/heat.
If you are an auto tranny, then you will have some limitations based on the tranny/tc's ability to deal with the increase.
Basically a stock truck should have instruments to start out with. It gives you a baseline on which to judge ALL future changes and modifications.
Ok, how much HP??? Well, you can quite easily get 50-60 rear wheel HP from just a bit of pump tuning.... that's REAR WHEEL, not flywheel.
Can I suggest you do some digging and reading as well as picture hunting.
There are some good "how to's " in here and other sites. Also some good pics to give you an overview of the various adjustments....
Here is one pic to get you started and I'll post a couple more in the following posts below.

Re:fuel plate adjustment
Thanks, Bushy. This helps me a great deal. I'm driving a 92 5 speed. It has about 310,000 miles on it now but it runs really good and I've never done anything to it.
