fuel hand problems.
anybody have ant fix's for a fuel hand not working,or at least part of the time, seems i can fill it up and it will read full for only a short time then it go's back to empty, also as ask before what the low-down on pod's with 2 rounds of fuel?
|
Sounds like te sender in the tank is shot. Not uncommon.
|

Should be a little less than $60.

Mine has the same problem, and i still havent fixed it. im lazy. I measure fuel level with milage and the fact that the low fuel light still works and comes on reliably with 7 gallons left.
I believe that there was a tech service bulliten released on this. If i remember correctly it is a grounding problem with the harness. i believe the fix is to run a seperate grounding wire from the sending unit plate(plastc tank), all the way to the round plug on the back of the instrument cluster. the grounding wire in the factory harness is to be cut out. A seperate chassis ground should also be run to aoid any static problems. I have read that this is a common problem on 1st gens. |
DJ, ya know which is the grounding wire at the round plug?
|
Sorry i dont know.... I would have to look up the schemaitcs. The bigger pain is that you have to drop the tank.
Try to search on TSBs for the old trucks. |
where is the low fuel light located in the cluster, photo's would help
