Lightbulb Fuel Filters. How good of a filter setup do you need?

Hi Everyone,

On the first gens is it a good idea to have a 2 micron filtration setup? If so how and where would you plumb it in? Before or after the OE filter?

Would you also have a large micron filter just after the fuel tank?

On the OE filter, FS1221, as seen in the sticky, what micron size is it?

Are there any others that will fit the OE threads or a way to retrofit the base to accept a filter with a smaller micron rating (Donaldson P551311?)?

Did I add in enough questions?

Andy

I have an airdog and I believe they have 2 micron filters.

Personally if I had a moderately modified 1st gen though, I wouldn't go with an airdog or fass again, or even an electric pump. I would go with the mechanical low pressure piston pump and use the stock filter or run a differnet filter housing with a bigger filter. Just my $.02

It is never a bad idea to have better filtration. However 1st gen injectors are not as expensive or as fragile as 3rd gen electronic injectors.

There are plenty of stock 1st gen engines with original injectors that have gone 200K plus miles and still run fine.

With that said, I have a dual filter setup, 10micron to a 2 micron.

I believe the stock filter is 10-12 micron.

That is what I have, the mount has changed a little since the picture. I bypassed completely the stock filter.
