fuel filter

new to me 92 dodge and doing the fuel filter. When i took it out the fuel heater(?) came with and i was careful to not push it into the block.put the gasket back on it and got the whole threaded part back on to the block, now i have a leak between the heater and block it apears.I am almost positive i have the orientation right on it,plastic side up,metal side towards the filter.is there a gasket that goes between the threaded part and the heater?

Yes there is. My 1990 had the same issue. You can get a new gasket from dodge or cummins. Ifyou are in a bind, pull the old gasket and find a gasket off of a oil filter. The rubber gasket off of the oil filter will be thicker, but i did this about 4 months ago,and still have no leaks. The correct gasket is still in the garage.

Did you put the lil o-ring that slides over the threads before you put the fuel filter on. If that is on and it is still leaking,it has to be the gasket between the grid heater and the block..
