Fuel Filer Choices

I am running a Baldwin BF1280, but was wondering if anyone knows of a much higher capacity (longer) fuel filter that will fit our trucks?

I'm running the Baldwin BF1221 from the sticky. Working good for me.

A PO installed a RACOR (R45S ) filter on an aluminum bracket on the IP side fender well with a real good solid fit. It features a transparent base to see water, a water drop valve and a rubber primer button on top. When I realized what a PIA the OEM fuel filter is to change, I changed it and the RACOR, over seven years ago or 15k km, and have only drained water from the RACOR a few times since. I'm hoping the only filter I ever have to change will be the RACOR. They can be a little hard to find, and I'll buy the next one I see to carry spare, ...

There is a longer Fleetguard in the sticky too. I have one. IIRC, it's a FS1221

More media in it, so it takes longer to trap enough crud to plug it up.

Where did you find the external bracket?

It's fabbed out of fairly heavy sheet aluminum, ... at least one PO was a welder who fabbed up the flat deck with cut-outs for the oxy and acet bottles. The ff bracket bolts on top of the fender behind the battery and accommodates the ff and horn of that side. I'll see what I can see with the camera and post if it seems useful, ... I just saw this post now, sorry, ...

PS: here are some pix of the Racor fuel filter setup; it's about 12" long, 5" wide and bent about 45* at bottom to bolt to the inner fender (dvrs side) and takes the filter housing at the top. It's a good install and easy to check for water and drain where it's located, ... likely the same PO who advanced my IP 3/16" and hopefully killed the KDP. At nearly 500k miles if the seal ain't leaking then someone's been at it (not me), ...

Better get this edit up top or nobody will see it, ... pls excuse all the wires and plumbing in the pix, ... most of my relays are along that fender so I can get at the fuses.

Half decent? Donaldson is arguably one of the best filter manufacturers on earth.
