The 10-PSI will be fine for the stock diaphragm pump; however, if you ever have plans of installing a piston-lift-pump, something between a 0-16 and 0-30 would be better.

Of course, you can always upgrade gauges if and when you upgrade pumps.

Any old pressure gauge of proper range will work; the only difference being the label.

My Stewart Warner fuel-pressure gauge says "WATER PSI" and has been in use as a fuel gauge for years.

 

I finally got the time to finish the fuel pressure guage and install it.
I've got 6 PSI at the pump while cranking.
FSS is gutted, still no start, no smoke at all.
cracked injectors and no flow, tried it with throttle half open also.
It tries to fire on ether.

So I guess it's time to send the pump out for rebuild,
maybe send the injectors for cleanup also.

 

The IP could still be full or air. I worked on a 2001 VW beetle TDI with the VM 4 banger pump. I had to keep cranking until the battery died, then use a set set of jumpers to continue. Ittook 10 minutes before it started running on its own. About 3 min of rough/skipping until it smoothed out.
