Frozen in MI

My truck will not start, turns over fired once and ran for a minute then shut off, I believe jelled fuel as the issue, since we had temps to -45 lately. I don't need my truck, will it hurt to sit with jelled fuel and if I do leave it will the fuel "un-freeze" and if so, what temp will that occur? I do use additive and have never had this happen in previous years, but then it hasn't been so darn cold!

That all depends on if the parafin will dissolve back into the diesel. I would imagine it will, once it warms back up.

I think you'll still need a filter change no matter what though, since there's probably too much parafin vs diesel for it to dissolve.

That happened to my 1st Gen a couple times, once it warmed up it ran just fine, but these common rails are different. I would think you'll be ok

It will be fine once you get some warmth in it. Gelling is all over this year, seems they miscalculated how cold it was going to get when they added the additive packages in many places.

Not as bad as they did back in 2010, but many around here got bit as well.

I gelled twice this year. Never had it happen before this year.

Mols, are you in the UP? I'm near Detroit and we had -16 down here, now where near -47!

I have been sitting down here in Mexico for the last month and I gotta say that I am getting a little tired of the 70s F,. that would be 21 for you centigrade guys. Yeah I know it gets hot in the summer, but I happen to like the heat. I was radiated for cancer and they fried my thyroid, which is the thermostat of the body. Mine is stuck on cold, so I live in a perfect place. I don't know how you guys live in such cold places, I think you're nutz...Mark

I have experienced the cold as well. Dump some powerservice 911 in there if you want, but fortunately there is a warm front moving in from the west.
