is it easier to put the fenders or the inner fenders on first?

Philip 12-15-2012 08:06 AM

Do the inner fenders first.

simplysmn 12-15-2012 10:26 AM

set the inner's over the wheel then put fender on then you can bolt everything up very easy to do .

do the fenders have a bolt between them and the door? i bought aftermarket fenders and im have a hard time lining them up

simplysmn 12-16-2012 12:15 PM

Yes they sure do I would start that 1 first then go from there .

My aftermarket fenders fit like a square peg in a round hole

I'm willing to bet if you hang those fenders that grill won't fit so good.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble and I'm far from a bodyman but, fenders need to lineup with 5 other parts of the truck. The door, hood, grill,A pillar and the front valance and I know this because my aftermarket fenders DO NOT lineup with any of they above, which makes everything look like crap!
A hood or grill or valance you could get away with. The only reason I went aftermarket was that I couldn't find OEM at the time but, I have located a driver fender and am currently hunting for the passenger. And they Will be going on as soon as I get the passenger side because I am apparently to darn picky to live with the HORRIBLE margins that I am currently left with.

Just my .02

GREAT! I came here to tell everyone how bad they were out of the box, and then found this thread dealing with the same thing. BUT- mine are already painted now and ready to hang on the truck. should be fun. Oh well, i have two different die grinders!!! I love how they came with that front bolting tab bent down 90* for ease of shipping.

19mike92 12-20-2012 06:57 AM

Mine came with the rear section that's supposed to roll nicely under the truck by the door bent like that

crossy 12-20-2012 08:10 AM

Oh, I sent one of my first two back because it looked as if someone had been jumping on it. On both of them, where they bend it 90 degrees down to the engine area-, they both had more stretch marks then Octomom!!
