I just bought my first cummins this weekend. Got a 93 standard cab long bed 4x4. I interested in swapping the cab out for an 84 ish crew cab but I don't know if my frame is long enough for the crew cab and a 6 foot box. I'm pretty sure they didn't make a short box back then. I know cab and bed mounts would have to be moved around, that doesn't bother me.

 

The Club cab long bed and the crew cab short beds share the same wheelbase length.
The regular cab long bed frame will be too short.

Although they share the same wheel base they are not the same frame. The Crew cab has a longer belly (distance from the front cab mounts to the kick up - 28 " longer as noted in a previous post) to accommodate the rear floor of the Crew cab.

 

Wow Winr, after almost 16 years from the last post and you are still around and still respond! That must be some kind of record! I'm impressed.

And a welcome to Oran. You'll get a lot of good honest info here (as you discovered from your search). You might find that swapping your Cummins into the Crewcab may be easier depending on your skills. But is sounds like you don't have the crew yet - which is even more rare than a good W250 standard or even a Club Cab.

 

They are certainly not the same frame, they just share the same wheelbase.

Body lifts or floor cutting needs to happen to put a crew cab on a club cab frame.

Putting a crew cab on a reg cab frame would have problems like that, plus you would only have about 4FT of frame left for your bed. The rear tire would also be very close to the rear of the cab.
