Vents covered on doors??
The vent slots on the front edge of my doors are covered with some sort of self sticking black material. Is this supposed to be there or is it something the po did to control noise or diesel smell or something?

Actually that was factory. I have looked at many doors with that on it. If you peal it off you won't find material that good to replace it with.
Its to cut down on window blowing into the door under pressure.

Ok,I see. One side of mine has the thick material on it but is peeling off, the driver's side has been replaced with duct tape. I guess it is time to look for something to replace it with. Thanks.

1. Gorilla tape
2. The heavy seam sealing tape that is used to repair RV roofs, or even holes in the siding.
3. The "100 mph" tape that is used to repair RV belly boards. (very thin)

I'm not sure if it just came on 93s or if was just diesels....
Definitely stock
I replaced it with butyl weatherproofing from a door off a grand caravan, cut it to fit and then 3m 8090 adhesive. Adhesive wasn't strong enough so I just used dynamat.
