I see your running the shackles in the front on your build. In the obs fords 92-97 and actually they started them in 1980 ford did the same thing with using the shackle in the front. They now make a shackle reversal kit to remove them from the front and install them in the rear. This sure makes the solid axle ford ride better and performes better on the road also.

Leaf spring Jeep's have them in the front as well. No problem with leaving them like that. Some jeep guys flip them for better articulation when wheeling but makes road manners worse and can cause some undesirable steering geometry when flexed.

Yes jeeps had them up front to, they also ran the leaf spring under the axle and not on top like gyman setup is. So apples to oranges with steering comparisons. Their is a reason jeep quit with the design they used.

I wouldn't be converting several F350 trucks every year if guys didn't see an improvement in ride and steering in their trucks.

Luckily the leaf springs move in the same direction whether they're over or under the axle and only exacerbated by spring over... I prefer oranges, being in Florida and all.

They went to coils.

Oh Ford owners...

It is pretty easy to see why when you think about it.

Haven't got to much done lately but still some progress, plowed a road into the donor truck to grab the engine adapter. Installed the clutch and new pilot bushing, new throw out bearing, cleaned and painted the transmission.

I wanted some diff covers but they just aren't in the budget so I thought I would try some stainless Allen heads. I like the way it looks and the best part is the price was right!

Yep, remove the seal from the trans tail housing. You'll need some extra fluid in the nv4500 after this, I used 7 qts to get to the top pto bolt hole.

Dads been helping me for a couple days now so we've made some good progress, also got the transfer case tore down and rebuilt. Anyone seen that clip in the magnetic dish before? It was stuck on a magnet inside the transfer case.

The cab has been sliced and diced to clearance the engine, front rad surround required quite a few mods to fit in and clear the engine. Over all it's turning out really well, fit the hood and all the gaps but one look real nice
