Flat bed or regular bed

Ok so ive got my rusty bed off my truck and im debating on whether to put a flat bed on it or another reg 8ft bed. I want to build one that i can put 2 4wheelers on but there so many advantages and disadvantages of both.

So flat bed or reg bed?

There are so many advantages with a flat-bed and so many dis-advantages with a sheet-metal bed that, once I remove a sheet-metal bed, I always replace it with a flat-bed.

The least little bump makes an expensive eyesore on a sheet-metal bed; whereas, a dollar can of black spray-paint will fix most anything that ever happens to a well-built flat.

It kinda depends on what you're gonna be using the truck for, but I think flat beds realy look good on these trucks and theres just so much you can do with a flat bed, so I vote flat-bed.

Tool box's look good too, they help cover the frame and make it look buff! Handy too, I can fit 2 chain saws, bar oil/gas and a tool set in my 30" box.

No question. I find flat bed sooo useful. Only a little irritating when I want to just through a little thing on - in that case it goes in the sleeper or I strap it down. The ATV's sit on it and are protected....

At times when I need sides, I have 30" plywood/2x4 sides that go in the stake pockets with a gate peice that goes accross the back. I have a custom tarp that slides over that to protect the contents if needed.

If I ever get another truck, it will have a flatbed.

On a DRW truck, yes, been there & done that. To me it looks like a factory option.
On a SRW truck, NO! NEVER for me!

I vote flat bed but make sure it doesn't stick out to far on the sides. You will have more "floor" space and if needed put pockets in and put sides on it.

I voted flat bed, especially if you are going to carry 2 quads.
I wish we could factory order an aluminum deck instead of a box.

Finally I'm with a majority, a unanimity one could say, ... My D350 came with its FB and I didn't like it at first, .. ugly I thought, now after using it for every kind of hauling, lifting, winching, towing and so on I wax grateful for the serendipity in what was essentially the only Cummins I could afford to buy at the time, ...
